Car Safety Song

lyric and music by Mindy Simmons

(we discuss what the word destination means and the importance of car safety)

when I'm riding in the car I keep my seatbelt on

when I'm riding in the car I use my indoor voice

when Im riding in the car I try very, very hard not to distract the driver

Oh the driver's looking to and fro

watching other cars you know

paying very close attention

driving safely to our des-ti-na-tion

when I'm riding in the car I keep my seatbelt on

when I'm riding in the car I use my indoor voice

when Im riding in the car I try very, very hard not to distract the driver

The Lollipop Tree

Joe Darion and George Kleinsinger

(inspires imagination and playing pretend)

One fine day in early spring I played a funny trick

right in the yard behind our house I planted a lollipop stick.

Then every day I watered it well and watched it carefully

And hoped one day that stick would grow to be a lollipop tree

chorus:

ah, ha, ha, oh, ho, ho what a place to be.

Under my lollipop, lollipop, lollipop

lolli-lolli-lollipop tree

Then one day I woke to find a very lovely sight.

a tree all full of lollipops had grown in the dead of night.

Well I sat beneath that wonderful tree and looked up with a grin

and when I opened up my mouth a lollipop dropped right in.

Repeat chorus

Winter came and days grew cold as winter days will do.

And on my tree my lovely tree not one little lollipop grew.

From every branch an icicle hung the limbs were bare as bone

But when I broke those icicle off they turned into ice cream cones.

Repeat chorus

Down By The Bay

traditional rhyming song

(this song is great for the older preschoolers to learn rhyming and phrasing)

Down by the bay. Where the watermelons grow

back to my home, I dare not go

for if I do, my mother will say....

Did you ever see a CAT wearing a HAT

did you ever see a SNAKE baking a CAKE

did you ever see a PARROT eating a CARROT

etc...

This song is really fun and the kids get very excited when I encourage them to make up their own rhymes.

The Good Bye Song

lyric and music by Mindy Simmons

(I end each class with this song)

It's time to go now the time it neigh

it's time that I must say good-bye

I want to thank you for all we share

it means so much to me that you care

so with a song in my heart, and friendship on my mind

I'll say good-bye to you now and I'll see you next time

Thanksgiving Songs
1.
Five Fat Turkeys are We.
We slept all night in a tree.

When the cook came around
We couldn't be found.

And that's why we're here,
You see !

2.
Five Fat Turkeys

Five fat turkeys
Sat under a tree

The first one said,
"What do I see?"

The second one said.
"A man and his son!"

The third one said,
"Then we'd better run!"

The fourth one said,
"Let's hide in the shade."

The fifth one said,
"I'm not afraid!"

Then "BOO!" said the son,
And away they did run!

Thanksgiving Poem

A turkey ran away
before Thanksgiving Day.
He said, " They'll make a roast of me if I should stay."

A pumpkin ran away
before Thanksgiving Day.
She said, " They'll make a pie of me if I should stay."
